What it is

A real game, built around your lesson

Each game is a single web page that students play by tapping or clicking. You choose the topic. We build the decisions students make around your learning goals and your students' levels, in a real game with pixel-art scenes, sound, and stars.

  • Your class on the title screen

Your name, your school, and your class topic, so students know it was made for them.

  • Up to three levels

Support, On Level, and Challenge versions of the same game, so every student can take part.

  • Class codes and completion codes

One code gives the whole class the same game. At the end, students submit a code you can check.

  • Built in your school's colors, with your mascot

Tell us your colors and mascot. The game is themed to match, and it checks contrast so every word stays easy to read.

  • Read aloud and large targets

Optional read aloud on devices that support it, readable type, and big tap targets for every grade band.

Why custom

Your lesson, not someone else's

Generic review games are close to your topic. A custom game matches it: the same words you use in class, the standards you teach, and challenges pitched at your students.

A generic game

  • Close to your topic, but not your exact lesson
  • Vocabulary and examples chosen by someone else
  • One version for every student
  • May need student accounts or logins, or show ads
  • May load content from outside sites that school filters block

A GBG Education game

  • Your exact topic and learning goals
  • Your standards and your vocabulary
  • Levels matched to your students
  • No ads, no accounts, no logins, no student data
  • One self-contained file that works in Canvas, Google Classroom (through Google Sites), or your own website

Private by design

Nothing to sign up for. Nothing collected.

Every game is one self-contained file. It makes no outside connections, so there is nothing for a filter to block partway through, and nothing to send anywhere.

Read our privacy page

  • No student accounts or logins. Students open the game and play.
  • No student data. No names, no cookies, no analytics, no tracking.
  • No outside connections. Fonts, images, and code are all inside the one file.
  • Works on student devices. Chromebooks, iPads, Windows laptops, and Macs, with mouse, trackpad, or touch.
  • Click and tap only. No timers, no fast reflexes, no keyboard-only controls.

Who makes these games

Hi, I'm Mike. I'm in my 13th year teaching technology and social studies to middle schoolers, in both a New York City charter school and a suburban public district. I hold master's degrees in adolescent education and instructional media. I build every game the way I'd build one for my own students: starting with the learning goal, planning for the kids who need support and the ones who need a challenge, and making sure it actually works on the devices in your room.
